Dr. Mackenzie is a Senior Lecturer in Emergency Medicine. Consultant in Emergency Medicine & Pre-Hospital Care, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Past Position: Dr. Mackenzie previously served in the U.K. Defence Medical Services (where he held the rank of Major) until his subsequent retirement from active service.
Committee Member: Dr. Mackenzie is the National Curriculum Development Lead for Pre-Hospital Care and Retrieval Medicine and an Executive Committee Member of The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is also a Member of The College of Emergency Medicine Pre-Hospital Care Sub-Committee. In addittion to being the Medical Director of the Medical Charity MAGPAS, Dr. Mackenzie is also a Senior London HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) Consultant in Pre-Hospital Care & a qualified National Emergency Medical Silver Command Officer (having been active as a Silver Command Incident Medical Officer in numerous disasters - including the July 2005 London terrorist bombings).
Special Interests: Pre-Hospital Critical Care, Injury Prevention & Control, Injury Epidemiology, Emergency Medical Systems & Pre-Hospital & In-Hospital interface for major trauma and severely ill patients.
